The Solar Floater

The Solar Floater is a type of “all risk” solar contractor insurance. A Solar Floater provides blanket protection for your solar panels, inverters and racking whether your solar equipment and materials are in storage, on the road or at a job site.

Whatever materials you have set aside for your solar contractor projects prior to installation, this insurance has you covered1

What Is a Solar Floater?

A Solar Floater is a type of installation floater (sometimes referred to as a builder’s risk policy or inland marine coverage).

An installation floater is an insurance policy that covers business property that is to be installed, fabricated or erected during an installation phase, or construction process, of a building being renovated, upgraded or remodeled.

Installation floater coverage is called “All Risk” because it covers loss to property from any cause, except those that are specifically excluded. This is in contrast to a “named perils” insurance policy under which a loss is only covered by causes of loss that are listed as being covered by the policy.2

What Are The Benefits of a Solar Floater?

The policy reduces the risk that a project will not be completed due to your panels or solar equipment getting damaged prior to the project being completed.

It protects you from the risk of having to pay to replace damaged solar panels or equipment. If such property is damaged while in storage, in transit or at the job site prior to being installed, having a Solar Floater in place means you will not have to come out of pocket to replace the damaged property.
