Hi my name is Rob and I’m a business insurance broker with a commercial real estate specialty.

Rob Freeman Business Insurance Broker

As a former property manager and business owner for many years, I personally empathize with your concern for your business’s financial and operational sustainability.

I want my insurance clients’ businesses to succeed while their assets are properly protected.

My clients own businesses of all types. Many are owners of businesses and properties in the “high-performance” building industry.

Their specialties include passive house development, LEED certification, green property management, energy storage and energy auditing.

In 2017 I worked with A+ rated carriers to craft special coverages that specifically address the unique exposures of buildings designed for sustainability.

Recently, I led the winning team in the InsureTech Connect Hackathon with a concept for a real time “smart building insurance” platform.

Prior to becoming an insurance broker, I was the founder and CEO of Green Buildings Online Inc., a publisher of e-learning and training tools for professionals in the green building design and construction industries.

Our customers worked for leading organizations such as the U.S. Green Building Council, Hewlett Packard, Waste Management, Starbucks, Staples, Johnson Controls, Turner, Marriott, Siemens, Yale, Stanford, SOM, Gensler, Skanska, Kohls, Target, JP Morgan and many others.

I am also a LEED AP and worked in commercial real estate as a property manager and asset manager for two real estate private equity funds in New York City. Prior to this I worked in sales and was the owner and manager of two successful restaurants and bars in New York and Rhode Island.

I graduated from Skidmore College and earned an MBA from Babson College. I live in Ridgefield, Connecticut with my family where I’m proud to serve on the Board of the LEED certified Ridgefield Library and as co-chair of Ridgefield Action Committee for the Environment (RACE).
